SOS is an opportunity to explore your passions through service, while meeting new friends and making connections with local agencies. The mission of SOS is to Serve the Community, Serve the University and Serve the Student.
For three Saturdays during the fall semester, groups of Seton Hall students will volunteer to participate in meaningful community outreach, providing an atmosphere where their gifts and talents will be used in order to better society.

More than 8,200 Teach For America corps members are teaching in 39 regions across the country, impacting over 500,000 students in low-income communities. Spotlight on Rhode Island: When Rhode Island's charter corps of 30 began teaching in the highest-need schools this fall, they received a warm welcome from the state's commissioner of elementary and secondary education, Deborah Gist: "The single most important factor in the education of our students is the effectiveness of our teachers," she said. Federal Pay Tops Private Workers - USA Today
Federal workers have been awarded bigger average pay and benefit increases than private employees for nine years in a row. The compensation gap between federal and private workers has doubled in the past decade.
Federal civil servants earned average pay and benefits of $123,049 in 2009 while private workers made $61,051 in total compensation, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The data are the latest available.
The federal compensation advantage has grown from $30,415 in 2000 to $61,998 last year.
