Horizons Retreat: Discovering Where Service Will Take You

Are you a junior or senior who is interested in post-graduate volunteer work? If so, the Catholic Volunteer Network is hosting the Horizon's Retreat: Discovering Where Service Will Take You. The retreat will take place in Mystic, CT from February 19-20 at St. Edmund's Retreat Center at Edger Island. There will be sessions held such as spiritual growth through service and an opportunity for students to interact with people who have chosen to do post-graduate service.




The retreat is free and will including meals, housing, and transportation if necessary. Register by February 9, 2011 if you are interested by clicking here.

Increase in Fees

As of January 1, the DCAS will be increasing the fee for the civil service exam. It is possible to get a $5 discount if you file online throught the DCAS system and pay with a debit or credit card. In addition to the civil service exam fee, the DCAS will be charging $40 for the Police Officer Exam (or $35 if you follow up steps to get the discount). Fees for all other exams given at the DCAS Computerized Testing Centers will be increased as well.

Full-Time and Part-Time Positions!

New Jersey After 3 is a nonprofit focused on creating after school programs for children. This nonprofit created their Service Learning Americorps Program in order to create leaders that want to address the needs of the surrounding commuities through hands on learning projects. Students get to serve their 900 hours for the part-time position directly with children. During the course of the job which will run from January to October, students will be paid to be a mentor, be a team leader, create projects, and plan lessons.
